BASC condemns the unlawful use of lethal force against Baloch women in Gonich village, Iran

The Baloch Advocacy and Studies Center (BASC) expresses its deep concern and unequivocal condemnation regarding the unlawful use of lethal and excessive force by Iranian security and military forces against civilian women in Gonich village, located in the Karvandar district of Khash County, Sistan and Baluchestan province, on Tuesday, 1 July 2025.

The human rights situation in Sistan and Baluchestan has reached an alarming level in the aftermath of the Iran-Israel conflict. The Iranian regime has exploited the current climate to intensify repression against the Baloch people, resulting in gross violations of their fundamental rights, including the right to life. The recent tragic incident in Khash County is a stark illustration of this ongoing pattern, where the Baloch women were targeted under the pretext of spying for Israel.

According to multiple credible sources, heavily armed forces affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Intelligence (IRGC-IO) and Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA) launched a pre-dawn raid on an unarmed civilian population, resulting in the death of one woman and the serious injury of eleven others, four of whom are minors.
