Fariba Baloch

Fariba Baloch is the President of the Baloch Advocacy and Studies Center (BASC). She provides overall leadership and represents the organisation in public and institutional engagements to advance its mission and goals. She is an internationally recognised human rights and women’s rights activist. With a Bachelor’s degree in Persian Language and Literature, she began her professional journey as a teacher, dedicating over 16 years to educating youth in Balochistan, Iran.

Driven by a deep commitment to justice and equality, Fariba has led numerous impactful initiatives aimed at empowering women and supporting vulnerable people. She founded the first women’s addiction rehabilitation center in Chabahar, a pioneering effort in a region with scarce support systems for women in crisis. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with charitable and governmental organisations to advance the rights and welfare of women and children in Balochistan.

In recognition of her courage and dedication, Fariba was honoured with the International Women of Courage Award by the U.S. Department of State in 2024. Her advocacy has reached global platforms, including the United Nations and the European Parliament, where she has spoken out on the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan.

Through her UK-based organisation, Shiwar, Fariba continues to champion human rights, women’s rights, and children’s rights in the region. Her humanitarian work includes supporting the victims of Bloody Friday of Zahedan, documenting human rights abuses, contributing to UN fact-finding missions, corresponding with international media, and organising events focused on justice and accountability.

Now leading BASC as President, Fariba brings a wealth of experience and tireless activism, making her a vital voice for the Baloch people on the international stage.
